Trinidad Carnival 2012: Tuesday Mas Video Clips With D'Krewe!

You're probably wondering why so few videos on the biggest day of the Trinidad Carnival season...honestly because I took so many PICTURES and there was only so much room on the camera!  Only so much charge too despite a big handful of batteries (you know you take a bunch of pics and vids and not all of them turn out well enough to post, but they take up space meantime on the road).

Enjoy!  Tuesday Mas for 2012 was with D'Krewe Carnival but I did pass other bands too!  Unfortunately the many pics and vids I took on Savannah stage this day did not make it back from Trinidad (see the original theft issues in the picture post linked above), but with carnival it's not just the destination, it's the JOURNEY and the road was nice!

For Tuesday Mas pictures, again click here!

Trinidad Carnival 2012: Monday Mas With D'Krewe - The Videos!

Was on the road with D'Krewe carnival Monday as their official photographer (hence the reason I was that lone masquerader on stage WAY before and after my section especially Tuesday, lol) but passed by other bands as well, like Starlift!

See what's it's like in MOTION!

And subscribe to the Youtube page so you can be first in line for the Trinidad Carnival 2013 videos!

Jamaica 2012: Are You Going to ATI, Dream, or SPF Weekend...or Doing the Cultural Celebrations?

Jamaica celebrates Emancipation (from slavery, actual date August 1) and Independence (from colonial rule, actual date August 6) every year with national holidays and events of both the cultural and festive kind, and this year is special because it's the 50th anniversary of Jamaica's independence from England!

Just as big as our 50th anniversary, is the fact that it coincides with the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England!  So JumboTron television screens will be broadcasting coverage of our track & field superstars across the island, at both festive and cultural celebration venues so you can party and not miss a beat on our medal hunt!

L-R: Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

But people seem unaware of the distinctions among the many options going on, and where they are happening...Jamaica been celebrating all year!

FESTIVE CELEBRATIONS

Jamaicans from near and far are headed home by the thousands, as well as their friends, families, and just tourist visitors as well, for by far the largest, most exuberant, most exciting celebrations on the island: all-inclusive "Weekend" parties that give you access to a string of themed celebrations for a single, value-for-your-money price.  These celebrations generally fall on the weekend nearest to the Emancipation/Independence dates of August 1 and August 6.  For the 50th year of Independence, 2012, the weekend is August 3-6.  Monday August 6 is the equivalent of the USA's 4th of July.  These events draw insane crowds from all over the world, but no year is more attractive than the 50th!
